Canadian Social Innovation Exchange
November 27 - 29, 2017 | Toronto, Ontario | Artscape Daniels Spectrum & Centre for Social Innovation
This November, 250+ practitioners, social entrepreneurs and community leaders who design programs, policies, systems and methods to improve communities and environments across Canada will gather to connect, share, learn and collaborate at SPARK!
Whether you are working at the community level to make change, or embedded in a specific sector, the current context calls us to raise our gaze -- and raise our game. Globally and at home in Canada, we face interconnected challenges that require unprecedented levels of collaboration across sectors, and long-term change efforts. We face a significant education gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians; rising economic inequality; growing needs for effective newcomer support; climate, energy and sustainability challenges; increasing diversity of social values, and a changing economy. In this complex environment, social challenges can’t be solved in isolation - yet they present incredible opportunities for social innovation across all sectors of society.
Over three days, we will ask burning questions about social innovation, engage in deep discussions, immerse ourselves in collaborative design sessions, connect with each other through interactive experiences and learn from some of the country’s leading practitioners, thought leaders and social innovators. We will leave with new perspectives, radical ideas and a renewed sense of community and commitment to creating positive change.
SPARK brings together regional, national and local champions of social innovation and includes new voices, reflecting the diversity of social innovation practice in Canada. We are engaging both front-line practitioners and important anchor institutions across sectors, including government, financial institutions and funders who are creating critical enabling environments to implement social innovation
